Charity Supporting in 2025 to be announced.
Let us know if you have a charity you think we should support in the food and drink sector.
For the 2024 Awards we supported Josie Houghton and her very worthwhile commitment to teach everyone cooking skills.
These cooking classes are aimed at people who are disadvantaged in some way. This is primarily financial disadvantage, many attendees are on universal credit but also people who have additional learning needs.
I work with a lot of children on an individual basis who are autistic and often prefer a 1 to 1 class, as well as with children from 'looked after' children and from the Ukraine. I tend to work in the more deprived areas of Cheltenham. The classes I hold from home in Charlton Kings are for local children who are entitled to free school meals as well as some individual sessions.
For an adult or child to attend a group class, the cost is £30 per person. For individual tuition £40 per hour for a longer session. These costs include all tuition costs, ingredients, containers to take food home in, recipe folder, insurance, energy/fuel as well as a subsidised 'goody bag' full of ingredients to make some of my recipes!
